Vinoth Ganapathiraman
Vinoth obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India in 2012. He received his Master’s Degree in 2014 from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. His Master’s thesis was titled, “Effect of biological activities on hydraulic conductivity of sand”.
Following his graduation, Vinoth worked in India for two years (2014-2016) with an engineering consultancy company. He worked on projects conducting site investigations and designing of foundations for highway structures. He also gained experience in the design of Mechanically Stabilized Earth Retaining structures.
After that, he worked as a Research Engineer at the National University of Singapore for almost two years (2016-2018) where he helped in the research project to determine the bedrock level using geophysical techniques. He also conducted and published research on properties of cement-treated sand.
Vinoth is currently in the final stages of his PhD at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada (2018-present). His PhD dissertation is on the topic “Internal Erosion in Widely graded soils”, for which he designed and built a large flexible-wall permeameter and conducted internal erosion tests in a stress-controlled environment.
Vinoth has been working as a Geotechnical Engineer at INGEO2 since September 2023. He is working on various projects at INGEO2 involving the stability analyses of quay walls and cofferdams, pile drivability analyses, and providing geotechnical support for updating Mine Closure Plans.
