INGEO2 has been commissioned to provide geotechnical specialist services for the development of an Updated Closure Plan for a large mining company in Suriname. This Closure Plan is developed by a team of experts from various disciplines.

The site is located in Suriname, in the Brokopondo District and consists of several Mining Pits, Tailings Storage Facilities and Mine Rock Areas. The geology of the site consists of lateritic top soil and residual soils with decreasing degree of weathering (with depth), underlain by volcanic and sedimentary rock formations. The tropical climate and the significant rainfall have resulted in a relatively deep and irregular weathered rock profile which is a complicating factor for geotechnical analyses to be undertaken.
